Stone Caldarium
Urban microclimate transitions
The stone caldarium was conceptualised to enhance the effects of urban transitions employing thermal and wind contradictions within spaces. Initially, the idea was to have three sculptural pieces that would heighten thermal and wind contradictions in three different urban transitory environments. Due to a limitation of the budget, only one of the GFRC sculpture was built. The caldarium was designed for visitors to experience a warm radiating surface heated from exposure to the sun and a cold radiating surface that was cooled using water pipes from a chiller at the same time.
